A few weeks ago Primrose's Kitchen from London sent me a wonderful goodie box full of the most lovely breakfast stuff - and as you know in my eyes there is nothing better than breakfast, so it was the perfect present for me! And even better: As an aspiring graphic designer there is nothing that makes my eyes happier than a pretty design, and look at these muesli packages! They were almost too pretty to rip open! But I was happy when I did. Because these mueslis were... wow. You have to know that I am a big muesli lover but since I have started looking at ingredient lists and care for the health factors of foods, I have started avoiding most mueslis, because even if they're advertised as healthy and mostly made with oats and fruits, they contain big amounts of refined sugar and fats! But not Primrose's Kitchen muelis. They are vegan, gluten free and (of course) raw, and even refined sugar free, and that's why I love them!
They contain:
- almonds
- chia seeds
- gluten-free oats
- linseeds
- psyllium husks
- raw agave nectar
- sunflower seeds
- pumpkin seeds
- virgin coconut oil
I can absolutely understand that their Raw Carrot, Apple and Cinnamon Muesli is the Gold Star Winner of Great Taste Awards last year! The muesli is made of gluten free oats with fresh carrot and apple together with a combination of nuts, seeds, chia seeds and psyllium husks, all spiced with some lovely cinnamon. The cinnamon makes it a little christmassy but you might have gotten to know me now and know that I eat cinnamon with everything at every time of the year (much to the detriment of my mother!) so it was perfect for me. I used it together with almond milk, soy yogurt and lots of fruits and it always fit perfectly.
The second muesli I got was the Raw Beetroot and Ginger Muesli. I loved the part that the milk turned pink thanks to the beet (yes, I'm such a girl!) and that the yummy ginger was zingy but mild enough. I can't wait to try out to bake with these mueslis and eat more of them for breakfast - they are so good and I can only reccomend them to all of you!
I have only one con-part about the mueslis: coconut oil. I know it's clean and has a lot of positive effects, but it consists of at least 90% saturated fats which are really not good for you, your blood pressure, your heart and liver. But you can still have it from time to time (like butter) so I guess that's fine in an occasional muesli too.

Raw mueslis
Raw almond butters
You think these mueslis were a present too good to be true? So do I! But it still gets better! I also got two jars of almond butter, one with chia seeds and one with hemp seeds! As you might know nut butters are reallo good for you thanks to the good fats. But why almond butter and not the usual peanut butter? Because almonds are so much lower in calories and are the best nuts for disease prevention! Almonds have more calcium than any other nut, making them a great food for overall health. Plus, they are rich in fiber and vitamin E, an antioxidant that helps fight dangerous inflammation and possibly health conditions such as lung cancer and age-related cognitive decline. So the compination with chia and hemp seeds makes the almond butters a real superfood!
Moreover these almond butters are organic, gluten free, wheat free and refined-sugar free and have no added salt or oil (and of course they are vegan too!). I love to spread them on bread (together with banana slices) or top my oatmeal with a butter dollop for an extra protein boost! I especially prefer the chia one because it's so high in calcium (chia contains five times more calcium than milk) which is really good for me as I've never been able to consume diary.
So as you can guess I can never thank Primrose enough for letting me try out these lovely products! They're amazing to be eaten on their own OR together - like in my healthy granola bars! So you should better try them if you can, and also remember to check out Primrose's homepage and her lovely instagram account!
