Now it's definitely time to introduce you to my absolute favourite brand in the world. The products by this brand help you enegize, be happy, healthy, vibrant, have a shining skin and sparkling eyes, pretty hair and a lot of strength! And it's environmentally healthy and supports development countries. Sounds amazing right? Well, that's Organic Burst.
I first encountered Organic Burst when I started using maca. I had some maca from a finnish company which tasted awful and caused me headaches. I started researching superfoods and found Organic Burst. First I noticed the pretty packaging (yes, I'm such a geek) and then Pixie from Plant-based Pixie told me about how much she likes the Organic Burst maca - that's how my Organic Burst journey began.
But back to the beginning. What are maca and Co. ... to wrap it up, what are superfoods? Well, the term "superfood" is used to describe foods with very dense health benefits. Those benefits are mostly being rich in antioxidants (such as beta-carotene, vitamins A, C, E, flavanoids and selenium) and omega-3 fatty acids - they're good for your immune system, anti-ageing etc. etc. etc. Superfoods are entirely at their natural state and contain no chemicals - as suggested in Organic Burst's name, they're organic too. That's why many people (like me!!) change pills from the pharmacy into superfoods - for example maca is high in iron and magnesium which I used to consume as pills before!

Back to the maca. After my negative effects from the other maca, I decided to give the healthy "radish" another chance and try out the Organic Burst maca which I had heared so many positive things about. I started with half a teaspoon a day and was so glad that no headache or blurry vision followed - perfect for the start! After using it for several days then, I began to feel the main positive effect: being super energized! It's a little like coffee, only that I get bad skin from coffee and don't like the strong taste. Organic Burst maca again tastes really mild and a bit nutty. I wouldn't eat spoonfulls of it or mix it in water but the taste goes really well with oatmeal or in my pancakes.
Pancakes. That's the next hint. Because right after I got my maca, Organic Burst started their #OBpancakeweek competition, where they asked customers to take pictures of pancakes that included their superfoods (read more here). Perfect for me, the pancake princess and maca-pancake-lover. I whipped up several pancake stacks and (drumroll) WON (yippee, lucky me!)! That's how my superfood journey continued - the prize were three superfood granules from Organic Burst.

Organic Burst itself is a multi-award winning creator of superfood powders, tablets and capsules. They were founded and are based in the UK and have fast become a staple brand for many health-conscious people (and nowadays you can even buy their products at Tesco in the UK!) (boo, why don't I live in the UK?).
Their range of superfood powders consists of
- maca
- baobab
- spirulina
- chlorella (powder and tablets)
- wheatgrass (powder and tablets)
- acai capsules.
One more thing that I absolutely LOVE about the company: Organic Burst has ethical partnerships with their farmers - for example the baobab farmers in the local area are provided jobs and a stable and especially fair income! Furthermore Organic Burst makes sure that the growing of the baobab trees is sustainable! The knowledge that my purchase is also helping people in development countries (which I'm incredibly interested in, especially after living in Asia for several years) convinced me - and should convince you to give them a go too! (Usually I prefer using local products because of environmental issues and the high CO2-footprint of global transport, but this fair trade of local farmers is something I definitely want to support!)

Now let's come to the products themselves:
Maca: Maca is the superfood I use the most. I works a little like coffee, it increases your energy levels and wakes you up. Funny fact about it? You know coffee cravings right? Well, nowadays I have maca cravings. My favourite way to use maca is always in the morning in pretty much anything I have for breakfast, mostly in oats or pancakes but also in nana ice cream and smoothies (I think it goes very well with bananas!)! Maca is high in iron, manganese, zinc and amino acids and so it's perfect for me as I always have very low iron and manganese levels. Oh, and maca is known to be good for your libido - so maybe you want to secretly pour some in your boyfriend's oats... ; )

Baobab: Baobab tastes sourish, a little like lemons, and goes very well in fruit smoothies or just mixed in water as juice (or any other fruity treats, like my mango chia parfait!)! Also like lemons it's high in vitamin C. It has strong energy-yielding properties. It helps improve the body's efficient use of calories from food into energy and increases your iron levels too! Baobab is good to be consumed when you have a cold, just mix it in a cup of (hot) water and keep yourself hydrated the best way!

Spirulina: Spirulina is a algae, known from green smoothies. I was very interested in trying this (yes, because it's the typical healthy foodie stereotype - green algea smoothies, yuck!). And it does taste like algae too, oops. But if you only use half a teaspoon, you won't taste it - and lemon covers the taste too! So far I've used it in smoothies and zoats (zucchini oats) and as long as you don't use too much, the taste shouldn't bother too. I love that spirulina contains so much plant protein (all the essential amino acids - perfect for recovery after sports) and vitamin B6 which is good for your cognitive functions. Have it during stressfull work or school weeks and help your brain function as well as possible! But furthermore spirulina is THE product for people that want to loose weight - have 30 minutes before meals to reduce your hunger and prevents over-eating! Read more and order here!
Chlorella: The upper three products I was sent by Organic Burst but I am lucky enough to have a foodie friend like Pixie who lets me try her Chlorella! : ) And chlorella is my kind of green algae - the taste is nothing as strong as spirulina but it contains iron, manganese, Vitamin B6, B2 & B12 too - perfect for vegetarians and vegans, because usually you get those from meat! They are there to renew your cells. Vitamin B2 helps promote radiant skin and its biotin and copper maintain hair. As I said - alltogether this is the perfect product to keep vegans healthy, because hair, skin and iron are the problems of my life (I'd better order some more of this!).

I haven't tried any other of the Organic Burst products yet (unfortunately!) but can't wait to try the acai capsules - maybe I should ask someone to send me some for christmas! ; )
To sum it up: Organic Burst products are organic, super healthy and good for you, environmentally friendly and support farmers in development countries, and FURTHERMORE the packages are super pretty and the company's homepage and facebook page are full of interesting health information and all that is what makes it my favourite company ever! The team are very active on instagram too and they are all so personal and interested in their customers, which I love. And I had the pleasure to meat the founders Katya and Dimi at the October Plant-based Picnic and they were so lovely people that there are only positive things I can say about this brand!
